The Korean National Under-18 Baseball Team is leaving for the 31st World Youth Baseball Classic, the Korea Baseball Softball Association said.
According to the association on Monday, the tournament, which begins on Aug. 31, will be held for 11 days in Taipei and Taichung, Taiwan.
The team will depart for the tournament through Incheon Airport on the morning of the 30th.
In the 12-nation tournament, South Korea is in Group A along with Taiwan, Australia, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Czech Republic.
The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Round, with the final standings determined by combining the results of the preliminary and super rounds.
Having won the tournament five times in the past (1981-1994-2000-2006-2008), South Korea will be looking to reclaim the crown after a 15-year absence.
The Korean team is led by Lee Young-bok (Chungam Go), who has proven his leadership skills at the high school level.메이저놀이터
The team has a number of talented players, including Cho Dae-hyun (Gangneung High School) and Jeon Mir (Gyeongbuk High School), as well as Hwang Jun-seo, Yuk Sun-yeop (Jangchung High School), and Kim Taek-yeon (Incheon High School).
