Taiwan catches ‘dark horse’ after 27 hits… Group A chaos continues

Taiwan shook off the aftermath of its first game. After a slugfest, they defeated dark horse Italy and went 1-1.

Taiwan won 11-7 against Italy in Group A in the first round of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) held at Intercontinental Stadium in Taichung, Taiwan on the 10th. In the first game against Panama on the 8th, they lost 5-12, but recovered after a day of rest. He saved his hopes of advancing to the second round by defeating dark horse Italy, who had defeated Cuba the day before.

The start was good. Taiwan took the lead with Ziwei Lin’s first solo home run in the first inning. In the top of the second inning, Italy’s squeeze bunt and timely triple allowed a turnaround, but at the end of the second inning, Jeong Jong-jeo’s timely hit immediately tied the score. 온라인바카라

The game continued until the 6th inning. When Chinese Taipei scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning and ran away to 5-2, Italy reversed the game with 4 runs in the 4th inning.

Taiwan, which was trailing 5-7, regained the balance with Zhang Yucheng’s two-run homer in the 6th inning. From this point on, it was the trend in Taiwan. In the 7th inning, Pang Guo-cheon’s come-from-behind hit was timely, and in the 8th inning with an 8-7 1-run lead, Gong-gwan Ji Ji-lao hit a 3-run home run over the middle wall amid enthusiastic support from the home fans. It was a tipping point.

Both teams totaled 27 hits. Taiwan defeated Italy in firepower with 16 hits.

Jiang Xiaoqing gave up 2 runs in 2 innings, and Wang Wei-jung gave up 4 runs in 2 innings. Still, the pitchers who came out in the second half of the game had a sense of stability. Following Chen Yuxun (1 scoreless innings), Lu Yanqing (2 scoreless innings, relief victory) and Song Zhao (1⅓ innings scoreless save) blocked the back door well.

Taiwan will face the Netherlands on the 11th and Cuba on the 12th. If we do well here, we can look forward to advancing to the second round.
