Honduras lined up in a 4-2-3-1 with Marco Aseituno up front, followed by Hefryn Macias, Isaac Castillo, Exon Arsu, David Luis, Tomas Sorto, Javier Ariaga, Jeremy Rodas, Anfronit Tatum, Felix Garcia, and Jurgen Garcia.

Bad news for Honduras came in the 16th minute. Frontline striker Aseituno rolled his ankle on his own in the previous play and went down. Honduras made an early substitution, with Daniel Carter Boden coming on for Aseituno.

South Korea conceded the opening goal in the 21st minute. A minute earlier, striker Daniel Carter Boden collided with Choi Seok-hyun in a breakaway, and the referee awarded a penalty after a VAR review. Kicker Lewis stepped up to take the spot kick, which bounced off Kim Jun-hong’s hand and in.

Lewis, who scored in the 27th minute, was shown a red card. He battled for the ball with Bae Seo-joon near the touchline and struck him in the face with his right hand. The referee’s initial reaction was a warning, but the colour of the card changed to red after the VAR review.

With the numerical advantage, Korea continued to press Honduras. In the 37th minute, Kim Yong-hak made a quick counter-attack before passing to Bae Jun-ho. Bae attempted a right-footed shot from near the penalty area, but it was blocked by a defender.

In the 42nd minute, Kim Yong-hak broke through on the left side of the penalty area and fired a powerful left-footed shot. However, he was denied by the goalkeeper.

Six minutes of first-half stoppage time were awarded. Two minutes into the extra period, Sorto was cautioned for a rough block to stop a counterattack by Bae Joon-ho. In the fourth minute of added time, Kim Yong-hak tried a sharp left-footed shot from outside the penalty area, but it went narrowly wide of the side netting.
