ML’s No. 4 prospect blasts 185km home run in second game of debut, sinks Dodgers, too

Cincinnati Reds rookie Eli DeLaCruz, 21, has made an immediate impact in his big league debut.

De La Cruz started at shortstop in the No. 4 spot against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, on 8 August and went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Cincinnati earned an 8-6 walk-off win behind De La Cruz’s performance.

We want to see him be ‘Eli Deracruz,’ and that’s all he has to do. He’s a tremendous prospect. He loves baseball. We’re going to let him play his baseball,” he said of Deracruz.
