The future of Lionel Messi, the ‘God of Football’, could be decided as soon as 7pm local time.
After officially parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), interest in Messi’s next destination is high. Initially, it was a two-horse race between a return to Barcelona and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, who offered Messi a €400 million ($558 million) salary.
Confusion ensued. There were reports that the move to Al-Hilal was finalised, and then there were reports that a return to Barcelona was likely.스포츠토토
But then American Major League Soccer club Inter Miami stepped on the accelerator at the last minute. “Inter Miami are now the favourites to sign Messi,” according to French outlet L’Equipe.
But which team will Messi choose?
“Messi’s future could be decided today,” the UK’s Daily Mail reported. Inter Miami, owned by David Beckham, are the favourites. It’s a “Beckham sting” in a two-way battle.
Inter Miami have reportedly offered Messi a four-year deal worth €50 million ($70 million) a year.
The outlet added: “Inter Miami appear to be the frontrunners. There have also been reports of a desire to return to Barcelona, but that would be difficult given the club’s financial woes, and he has not resolved his differences with Barcelona president Juan Laporta. Al-Hilal reports that Messi’s wife is particularly opposed to the idea. “She said she couldn’t live in the Middle East with her children,” he explained.
“Messi’s agent and father, Jorge Messi, has said that Messi’s choice will be revealed by Wednesday at the latest.”
