Aaron Haynes is the only KBL player to record the top scorer for two consecutive seasons. This season, Maray won an average of 12.5 rebounds (674) in 54 games, becoming the king of rebounds and the king of steals with 1.8 steals (98). He finished first in the league in both categories. Since steals mostly come from the guard position, it is a little questionable that Marey, who is a big man, is ranked #1 in steals.
No player has ever ranked first in both rebounds and steals, so Marey is the first. Marey also led the league with 13.5 rebounds last season, but Murphy Holloway (Orion) took the top spot in steals with 2.2 steals.
Seoul Samsung Shin Dong-hyuk, 1st in 3-point shot success rate, 2nd among all-time rookies,
Shin Dong-hyuk joined Seoul Samsung in the 1st round and 6th place in the 2022-2023 rookie draft. He was the only rookie drafted this season to play in every game and stay on the court averaging 18 minutes and 15 seconds. The rookie award went to Ulsan Hyundai Mobis’ Ronjay Avarientos, but Shin Dong-hyuk left a record.
Shin Dong-hyuk’s 3-point success rate is 44.9% (53/118), which is the first in the league. So far, Shin Ki-seong (Narae) is the only rookie player to have topped the 3-point shooting success rate in his debut season. Newness in the 1998-1999 season recorded 44.7% (88/197). Shin Dong-hyuk became the second player ever to top the 3-point shooting percentage as a rookie.
Among all new players, the protagonist with the highest 3-point shooting success rate in his debut season is Lee Si-jun (Samsung) in the 2007-2008 season. He shot 45.3% (53/117) at the time. Of course, Lee Jung-hyun left behind the achievement of achieving 1,000 3-pointers this season. The reason Lee Jung-hyun is better than the previous players (Moon Kyung-eun, Joo Hee-jeong, Woo Ji-won, Kim Byung-chul, Jo Sang-hyun, and Yang Kyung-min) is that he succeeded in all 1,000 3-pointers from 6.75m or higher.
