‘I have to catch the ace!’ San Francisco negotiates long-term contract with Webb

Logan Webb, who has been reborn as the team’s ace with 10 wins for two consecutive years, has started discussions with the San Francisco Giants about a long-term contract.

Reporter Susan Slasher of the ‘San Francisco 메이저놀이터Chronicle’ reported on the 6th (Korean time), “San Francisco President Farhan Zaidi discussed a long-term contract with right-handed pitcher Webb and said he was preparing.”

Since Webb made his San Francisco debut in 2019, he only played for one team until last year. He is in his fifth year in the major leagues and becomes a free agent after the 2025 season, unless there is another contract extension.

He has been established as the team’s starting lineup since the 2021 season, and last season formed a left and right one-two punch with Carlos Rodon. He appeared in 32 games, went 15-9 with a 2.90 ERA and 163 strikeouts, and finished 11th in the Cy Young Award voting.

San Francisco, which has failed to sign big stars such as Carlos Correa and Aaron Judge, is likely to be open to Webb’s long-term contract, as it currently has room in its payroll.

Webb is also the first starting ace this season, building a starting lineup with Alex Cobb, Anthony Desclapani, Alex Wood, Ross Stripling and Sean Manea. He is also expected to play for the US National Team in the World Baseball Classic in March.
