Adam Plutko (LG Twins) will make his comeback game after recovering from a COVID-19 diagnosis.
Plutko will take the mound against the Kia Tigers of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Aug. 8 at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju.
It will be his first time on the mound since pitching against the Suwon KT Wiz on March 25. Plutko was scheduled to start against the Doosan Bears in Jamsil on the 30th, but withdrew due to cold symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19.
After completing quarantine, Plutko trained to get back in shape and will make his comeback in two weeks.
LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop said before the game against KIA on the 8th, “Plutko pitched once and trained after being released from quarantine. “He could have pitched on the fourth day, but I thought it would be better for him to prepare his body properly, so I took my time.”
LG is in first place with 57 wins, two draws and 35 losses. They have a 4.5-game lead over second-place SSG Landers (52 wins, 1 draw, 39 losses). “But we’re not letting our guard down. Each game is crucial.
Coach Yeom Kyung-yeop said that the performance of Plutko and Casey Kelly is crucial for the team to maintain its top spot. He said, “We need Plutko and Kelly to step up. It’s a crucial time for them. We need good performances from both players.”
