The Samsung Lions laughed off the Lotte Giants in the “Classic Series” thanks to Kang Min-ho’s walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning.

Samsung won 6-4 against Lotte at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on Nov. 11. Samsung, which snapped a three-game losing streak with a 9-7 victory the previous day (Oct. 10), swept the three-game weekend series in the “Classic Series.

The game was tied 0-0 going into the fifth inning behind strong pitching from both starters Baek Jung-hyun (Samsung) and Park Se-woong (Lotte).

Samsung had runners on first and second with no outs in the second, second and second in the third, and second and first in the fifth. Lotte failed to capitalize on runners on second and first in the third and runners on second and first in the fourth.

LOTTE opened the scoring in the top of the sixth when leadoff hitter Hwang Sung-bin reached on an infield single. Kim Min-seok followed with a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second. Lotte pulled Park Se-woong, who had reached his most pitches in a single game this season (114), and brought in closer Koo Seung-min. Samsung brought in Kim Jae-sung to pinch-hit for Kim Ho-jae, who also drew a walk to load the bases.

Samsung tied the game when Kim Ji-chan lined a two-run double to left field on a full count against Koo Seung-min. With the momentum on their side, Kim Hyun-jun followed with an RBI single to right to make it 3-2.

After Baek Jung-hyun was pulled after allowing two runs on five hits in six innings, right-hander Lee Seung-hyun and left-hander Lee Seung-hyun pitched one scoreless inning each.

Samsung closer Oh Seung-hwan gave up back-to-back singles to Ko Seung-min and Park Seung-wook with two outs in the top of the ninth and a tying run-scoring single to pinch-hitter Jung Hoon with runners on first and third.

Lotte regained the lead two batters later in the top of the 10th inning on a solo home run by No. 4 hitter Yoon Dong-hee. Yoon’s first home run as a second-year pro came in a dramatic moment.

Samsung put runners on first and third in the bottom of the 10th after Kim Young-woong led off with a double and Kim Ji-chan followed with a sacrifice bunt. Two batters later, Kang Min-ho hit a grand slam over the left field fence.
